A calm build with a richly layered finish

A shelf-sized destination

The finished 9.1 x 4.5 x 7.1 inch model sits naturally between books.

A lantern-lit alley at blue hour

Kyoto at dawn, held between two books

Warm lanterns, layered rooftops, cherry blossoms and the distant pagoda turn a narrow shelf space into a quiet Gion street. The scene is based on Kyoto's historic district and is designed to reward close viewing both with the lights off and after the LEDs begin to glow.

Details that slow the eye

A miniature street built one careful layer at a time

The 304-piece build combines pre-cut, pre-coloured wood with paper details, mirrors, a dust cover and a pre-wired lighting system. Small shopfronts, hanging lanterns and street-level accents create depth without relying on a flat printed backdrop.

The final switch-on

A warm glow made for evening display

Once assembled, the included LED strings cast a soft amber light through the narrow alley. Two AAA batteries are required and are not included. The finished piece works as a compact illuminated display for a bookshelf, reading corner or desk.

Tiny places within the place

Ramen stools, signs and hidden street life

The close-up details are part of the appeal: a miniature ramen counter, layered signs, greenery and the small yellow cat figure included in the kit. These features give the finished model different points of interest depending on where it is viewed from.
